Fixing Scratched CD’s and DVD’s
January 23, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
CD’s and DVD’s can be found in every home. Even if you use an iPod or other MP3/MP4 type device you probably still have a bunch of DVD’s laying around. One problem that you will often come across is that they get scratched and sometimes to the point of not working.
SaveOnline have created a case which contains non-scratch Ultrasuede Microfibre material that sits in the bottom of a case. A quick rotation of your CD in the case will remove dust particles and keep the CD or DVD more safe.
By placing a special non-scratch Ultrasuede microfiber material with dual cleaning bars inside the jewel case the CD will now rest on the ultimate soft protected surface. To clean the CD all you need to do is rotate the CD within the case. As the CD rotates over the soft surface and the cleaning bar it will remove dust and particulates. Each time you remove your CD it will be safe from scratches, clean and ready for use. This will significantly increase the life of your CD.
The cost of the Jewel case is $1.29 and can be purchased over at Save364.

Wooden MacBook case

Cut down a tree to save a Mac? Sure, it's better than using your face. These unpriced (hey, if you gotta ask...) wooden slip cases with leather lining and magnetic enclosures are designed and custom crafted by Rainer Spehl to fit 13-inch MacBooks or 15-inch MacBook Pros. While that's clearly a last-gen MacBook Pro pictured, we'll bet that Rainer will build the case to whatever dimensions you'd like just as long as you've got the cash to back up that pretty smile. Else, why not roll your own.

Snoopy USB flash drive in Pink is cute but not functional
January 20, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

There is hardly anything thing left which is totally unexplored in the sphere of USB. Whether its fashion, boys toys or cartoon, it’s all there. The Snoopy USB flash drive 2.0 measuring 2.17*1.57*0.35 in. is something which will surely be appreciated by the hardcore cartoon freak (who can’t hide his pansy love) It is certainly not something which can be counted as highly functional because it’s storage capacity is only 1GB which is a little meager for a flash drive. Deal Extreme has it for $7.

Girl CJ7 USB Powered Speaker

If you think you have seen the weirdest designer products, wait till you see this. Known as the Girl CJ7 USB Powered Speaker, it is probably the most hideous looking speaker ever designed. A ‘design disaster’, this device resembling an alien will definitely not appeal to anyone. If you keep looking at it for a long time it actually looks spooky! No idea about the sound quality of these speakers, but looking at the design and cheap price, you really shouldn’t expect much. Measuring just 3.54in x 2.36in x 4.72in, this speaker is available on Deal Extreme for $5.85.

Belt Buckle MP3 Player
January 12, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

This belt buckle features a hand-built MP3 player using a kit from Sparkfun Electronics. You can change tracks by tilting your buckle thanks to an accelerometer and songs are stored via an SD card. You can’t buy the buckle as a kit, but you can buy the music player itself and create your own music-playing apparel. Perhaps if you put one in a football helmet, Eli Manning would have won last night’s football game. Ugh.

LG Watch Phone Video
January 8, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
So we dropped by LG's booth here in the South Hall at CES and weren't really surprised to see a whole bunch of watch phones in a case that looked like it was just moved out of Jacob & Co. There was a surplus of models dolled up behind glass, but only two out on the floor. LG was being super secretive about the transitions between the various screens, but we did our best to sneak peeks through the fingers on our not-so-generous demonstrator's hand. What we did see looked pretty polished though (which you should know by now) and the transitions looked like browsing music on the iPhone. We were able to find out that the screen is not an OLED. LG went with a TFT with capacitive touch but we were told that it would work through a golf glove -- though we're not exactly sure about this. Be sure to check out the gallery for even more glamor shots and check after the break for video of the device (or the parts that LG would let us see) and prepare to be amazed. Ooh, shiny. Toshiba Pico Projector
January 8, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
Pico projectors are fairly new to the market with only 1, maybe 2 available to purchase. They use bright LED’s as their source of light and tend to be able to throw a screen on to a surface of about 50 inches.
Toshiba were showing off their version of a Pico projector at CES this year which measures 1.8 x 0.7 x 3.9 inches and weighs just 100 grams. The LED lamp inside that provides light for the images lasts around 2000 hours. Hopefully with it being LED based the lamps will be easy and cheap enough to remove and install when broken, or when something brighter is launched.

Portable DJ Gadget Improves UI with Second Version
January 8, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
Tonium is releasing the second version of its Pacemaker music DJ player at CES 2009 this week, and the company says this is the one that will live up to the expectations and finally provide an easy-to-use portable turntable.
The new 60GB Pacemaker looks like the old one, but the change is all about the software and the user interface. The UI has been fully altered to make it easier to get to your music faster, only requiring pushing a button or two, as opposed to the endless scratching and pulling needed in the last version.
The main feature that makes mixing much easier is called 'auto beat match,' which is matched to a single button and mixes selected songs together (There's no word on how many songs you can mix at once). This should enable inexperienced DJs to assimilate to the gadget's other advanced features.
The original mobile disco was a lot of fun but it was impractical. In her review, Senior Editor Nancy Miller thought the Pacemaker DJ player was mostly a good idea for a gadget, but the complicated menus and UI (as well as the huge price) soured her overall experience.
Tonium Marketing VP Ola Sars says that even though the UI now makes the DJ a much more approachable option, the player will still maintain its full Pro DJ capabilities and that the Pacemaker online community should reflect that. But as of now, there are no promises the 2.0 will be cheaper than before.
Considering the economy and the fact we still like the idea of a cool DJ gadget, we're crossing our fingers that the price will be slashed. Because making a gadget everyone can use doesn't mean squat unless people can get their hands on it.
