HP Pre 3 Announced
February 10, 2011 by admin · Leave a Comment
HP made a number of announcements last night. The next of those after the HP TouchPad is the HP Pre 3. The HP Pre 3 is a follow on from the Palm Pre 2 with the new HP branding.
The HP Pre 3 has a slide down QWERTY keyboard and uses the same form factor as previous versions when under the Palm brand. It has a 3.6 inch screen that is capable of showing 800 x 480 pixels. This is a step up in terms of resolution from the previous versions.
On the back, a 5 megapixel camera can be found. There’s a camera on the front as well allowing video calls to be made between other Pre users as well as TouchPad users.
The device runs the webOS 2.2 operating system (the new tablet runs webOS 3.0). The processor running the Pre 3 is a Qualcomm MSM 8×55 running at 1.4GHz. It has GPS built in. Wireless and Bluetooth are also built in. As for storage, it comes in two capacities of either 8GB or 16GB. Other sensors built in include an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, compass and proximity.
Overall, a decent step in the right direction for the Pre. The original sold well but the Pre 2 seemed to fall short in some ways. From looking at the specs and with the boost of the TouchPad, the Pre 3 could sell well.
Pricing is still unknown for the Pre 3 as is a release date. What we do know is that it’s available in the Summer, but unfortunately HP is not being any more specific than that.

The processor on this smartphone is a Qualcomm MSM7230 that is clocked at 800MHz.
As with the other devices announced last night, the HP Veer also has no specific pricing set and as for a release date, expect it this Spring.
Verizon HTC Thunderbolt 4G photos

When Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg take the stage January 6 for a CES keynote, it’s expected that he’ll show off a broad range of LTE products and services. Both the dual-core LG smarpthone and the Motorola Honeycomb tablet should make an appearance, and we also look for the 4G LTE-ready HTC Thunderbolt.
Previously known by other code names (Mecha and Droid Incredible HD), the Thunderbolt will be the third 4G “first” from the manufacturer, following the Evo 4G (Sprint’s first 4G phone) and the G2 (T-Mobile’s first 4G handset). The Thunderbolt moniker makes sense as it conjures up imagery of Verizon’s recent 4G LTE commercials, which show a guy harnessing a lightning bolt much like Zeus would. What’s more, it would fall right in line with the carrier’s new “Rule the Air” campaign.
After making its initial appearance all the way back in August, the Thunderbolt hasn’t remained the best kept secret. Normally a company might scramble to release the device or make an official announcement ahead of any leaks–too many leaks and rumors can lessen a device’s impact–but it’s possible that HTC has a different game plan for this smartphone.
HTC itself appears to have leaked images of the device to various outlets, including AndroidCentral, Engadget, PhoneDog, and SlashGear. Each received different close-up photos of the device, teasing an overall bigger picture.
Recently, Gizmodo was the first to post a picture of the phone running the Sense UI with a 4G LTE icon in the notification bar. The Thunderbolt is expected to feature a 4.3-inch touch screen, an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, and a front-facing camera. Other rumored details include a kickstand (think EVO 4G), microSD card, and a 1GHz processor similar to the Desire HD and T-Mobile MyTouch 4G.

Evernote for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch has been updated to include support in preparation for iOS 4.2 when it arrives sometime this month.
As well as supporting the new iOS, particularly multi tasking on the iPad, Evernote has also had a few new features added to it to make more useful than before.
New features in the Evernote iOS 4.2 update include the ability to add multiple photos, up to 5, to notes created. Audio notes have also been increased allowing up to 90 minute recordings to be captured if needed.
As well as the audio and photo sections getting an update, there’s also support within other apps such as Safari to open up PDF documents (and other types) in Evernote.
Evernote is a free app available from iTunes with a paid subscription model should you choose to want more transfer allowances each month.
The PlayStation Phone

It’s hard to believe that what we’re looking at is real but we assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you’ve long been waiting for. The device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Looking almost identical to the mockup, the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and you can see in the photos that it’s still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. For Sony buffs, you’ll be interested to know that there’s no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards.
The particular model in this shot is still in prototyping mode. As such, the unit doesn’t have a custom skin (not even SE’s Timescape design seen on the Xperia devices), and is said to be rather buggy. We’re digging into more facts as we speak. Though the device could still be headed for a 2010 release, 2011 is looking much more realistic. Still, there’s a lot of time between now and the holidays… so keep your fingers crossed!
Verizon Iphone release date
March 30, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Apple iPhone 4g Release Date 2010 and iPhone 4.0 Details. Everyone loves the technology behemoth Apple. Every time they have a new innovation the world is receptive and ready to snatch it up as fast as the company can make them. The iPad is the newest innovation, but there’s something that excites some Apple aficionados even more – the iPhone 4g using iPhone OS 4.0.
Of course, we all know that the iPhone is currently only available on AT&T. The 3G network needs some upgrades if the company is to offer 4G any time soon. 4G LTE speeds could be available in 2011, but Sprint and Verizon are said to have a leg-up with their networks – but that won’t stop Apple from offering handsets capable of the 4G speeds.
The 4.0 OS is also something that excites many. Some are hoping that the new OS will allow them to run more than one app at a time -something that the Google Android OS allows you to do and one of the major complaints of the Apple handset.
The rumors for the iPhone 4G release date is sometime this summer. Some are pointing to the handset being available as early as June 2010. Apple needs to act swiftly so that the most tech savvy customers aren’t lured away by the Google Nexus One and other smartphone handsets.
We predict that the advent of other companies handsets won’t have a huge effect on the iPhone. The customer base remains loyal.
iPhone 3.1.3 Firmware Released
February 2, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Apple may be touting the release of its iPhone OS 3.1.3 update this week, but new research shows the iPhone is actually starting to slip when it comes to smartphone market share.
The shift is no big surprise — analysts have been expecting the iPhone to begin losing its stronghold to Android for some time now — but this is one of the first concrete signs suggesting the trend may actually be upon us.
Apple’s iPhone Fall
The new numbers come from ABI Research, an analytics firm based in New York. ABI measures sales of smartphones from quarter to quarter and works with manufacturers to ensure its data is in line with the companies’ own estimates.
According to ABI, Apple’s iPhone accounted for 18.1 percent of global smartphone sales in the third quarter of 2009. In the fourth quarter, that number dropped to 16.6 percent.
The change itself isn’t enormous, but what’s noteworthy is that smartphone sales overall grew by 26 percent — yet, even with that significant growth in the market, Apple’s iPhone sales fell.
“We’re getting to a point where the iPhone is starting to look a little tired, a little dated,” ABI’s Kevin Burden tells me.
This is Apple’s first quarter-to-quarter drop in smartphone market share in two years, ABI’s research indicates. The last time the iPhone suffered a loss was in late 2008.

Amazon’s Kindle for iPhone hits the App Store
March 4, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
Sure, Amazon could pit the Kindle squarely against phone- and PDA-based e-book apps, but why not play both sides? The company had previously mentioned its desire to embrace non-Kindle devices in its digital delivery ecosystem, and the first fruits of that labor have now hit the iPhone App Store. The uncreatively-named Kindle for iPhone allows you access to all of your Kindle content right from the comfort of your iPhone or iPod touch, and if you have the good fortune of owning an honest-to-goodness Kindle, Whispersync will kick in to keep your location synchronized between readers. It's a huge win for owners of both devices, considering that the Kindle's still just a little bit big to be carrying everywhere you go, but your phone -- well, if you don't have that everywhere you go, you're just plain weird.
