Iphone Ipad Itouch Evernote update

Evernote for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch has been updated to include support in preparation for iOS 4.2 when it arrives sometime this month.

As well as supporting the new iOS, particularly multi tasking on the iPad, Evernote has also had a few new features added to it to make more useful than before.

New features in the Evernote iOS 4.2 update include the ability to add multiple photos, up to 5, to notes created. Audio notes have also been increased allowing up to 90 minute recordings to be captured if needed.

As well as the audio and photo sections getting an update, there’s also support within other apps such as Safari to open up PDF documents (and other types) in Evernote.

Evernote is a free app available from iTunes with a paid subscription model should you choose to want more transfer allowances each month.

The PlayStation Phone

It’s hard to believe that what we’re looking at is real but we assure you, the picture above is in fact the PlayStation Phone you’ve long been waiting for. The device you see is headed into the market soon, likely boasting Android 3.0 (aka Gingerbread), along with a custom Sony Marketplace which will allow you to purchase and download games designed for the new platform. The device snapped up top is sporting a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 (a chip similar to the one found in the G2, but 200MHz faster), 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, and the screen is in the range of 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Looking almost identical to the mockup, the handset does indeed have a long touchpad in the center which is apparently multitouch, and you can see in the photos that it’s still bearing those familiar PlayStation shoulder buttons. For Sony buffs, you’ll be interested to know that there’s no Memory Stick slot here, but there is support for microSD cards.

The particular model in this shot is still in prototyping mode. As such, the unit doesn’t have a custom skin (not even SE’s Timescape design seen on the Xperia devices), and is said to be rather buggy. We’re digging into more facts as we speak. Though the device could still be headed for a 2010 release, 2011 is looking much more realistic. Still, there’s a lot of time between now and the holidays… so keep your fingers crossed!

Verizon Iphone release date

Apple iPhone 4g Release Date 2010 and iPhone 4.0 Details. Everyone loves the technology behemoth Apple. Every time they have a new innovation the world is receptive and ready to snatch it up as fast as the company can make them. The iPad is the newest innovation, but there’s something that excites some Apple aficionados even more – the iPhone 4g using iPhone OS 4.0.

Of course, we all know that the iPhone is currently only available on AT&T. The 3G network needs some upgrades if the company is to offer 4G any time soon. 4G LTE speeds could be available in 2011, but Sprint and Verizon are said to have a leg-up with their networks – but that won’t stop Apple from offering handsets capable of the 4G speeds.

The 4.0 OS is also something that excites many. Some are hoping that the new OS will allow them to run more than one app at a time -something that the Google Android OS allows you to do and one of the major complaints of the Apple handset.

The rumors for the iPhone 4G release date is sometime this summer. Some are pointing to the handset being available as early as June 2010. Apple needs to act swiftly so that the most tech savvy customers aren’t lured away by the Google Nexus One and other smartphone handsets.

We predict that the advent of other companies handsets won’t have a huge effect on the iPhone. The customer base remains loyal.

iPhone 3.1.3 Firmware Released

February 2, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Apple may be touting the release of its iPhone OS 3.1.3 update this week, but new research shows the iPhone is actually starting to slip when it comes to smartphone market share.

The shift is no big surprise — analysts have been expecting the iPhone to begin losing its stronghold to Android for some time now — but this is one of the first concrete signs suggesting the trend may actually be upon us.

Apple’s iPhone Fall

The new numbers come from ABI Research, an analytics firm based in New York. ABI measures sales of smartphones from quarter to quarter and works with manufacturers to ensure its data is in line with the companies’ own estimates.

According to ABI, Apple’s iPhone accounted for 18.1 percent of global smartphone sales in the third quarter of 2009. In the fourth quarter, that number dropped to 16.6 percent.

The change itself isn’t enormous, but what’s noteworthy is that smartphone sales overall grew by 26 percent — yet, even with that significant growth in the market, Apple’s iPhone sales fell.

“We’re getting to a point where the iPhone is starting to look a little tired, a little dated,” ABI’s Kevin Burden tells me.

This is Apple’s first quarter-to-quarter drop in smartphone market share in two years, ABI’s research indicates. The last time the iPhone suffered a loss was in late 2008.

Apple iPhone OS 3.0 Coming Soon

Next week, on March 17th, Apple will invite several journalists to California to show off a new version of the iPhone OS. It’s rumored to be the 3.0 update, which would bring MMS, copy-and-paste and an improved SDK. Of course, these are all rumors but it’d make sense. Apple is really behind in the game of picture messaging and the ability to copy-and-paste would turn the iPhone into a true Kindle killer. But the big rumor is that Apple will enable Bluetooth tethering with the iPhone, allowing you to use it as a 3G dongle for your laptop. One can dream, right? Link

Amazon’s Kindle for iPhone hits the App Store

March 4, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Sure, Amazon could pit the Kindle squarely against phone- and PDA-based e-book apps, but why not play both sides? The company had previously mentioned its desire to embrace non-Kindle devices in its digital delivery ecosystem, and the first fruits of that labor have now hit the iPhone App Store. The uncreatively-named Kindle for iPhone allows you access to all of your Kindle content right from the comfort of your iPhone or iPod touch, and if you have the good fortune of owning an honest-to-goodness Kindle, Whispersync will kick in to keep your location synchronized between readers. It's a huge win for owners of both devices, considering that the Kindle's still just a little bit big to be carrying everywhere you go, but your phone -- well, if you don't have that everywhere you go, you're just plain weird. Sony Ericsson Does the Wrong Thing With Boomboox Walkman Phone

Oh, Sony Ericsson, why? Why have you just made the metro a little bit more miserable, and the streets just a touch more mean? Are you so desperate for cash that you are willing to risk a "Do the Right Thing" style riot just to sell a new phone?

The W395 Walkman phone is aimed squarely at the "youth" market, a fact easily gleaned from the publicity material featuring the phone alongside a skateboard. But the real gimmick, the thing that will attract youngsters like knives and anvils to Wile E Coyote's giant electromagnet, is the set of stereo speakers on the back. The press release doesn't even detail these speakers, instead relying on this visceral description:

Powerful built-in stereo speakers with high quality bass [emphasis added]

There is more in there -- a 12.5 hour battery life when playing music, a 2MP camera with which to capture urban unrest and a supplied 1GB memory card to store the recorded mayhem. But really, it's all about those speakers. In fact, Sony Ericsson should have just called the phone the "Radio Raheem". At least it doesn't need 20 D-Cell batteries to work (NSFW).

Screen Grabs: Fringe’s Olivia Dunham investigates zombies with Samsung BlackJack II

Screen grabs chronicles the uses (and misuses) of real-world gadgets in today's movies and TV. Send in your sightings (with screen grab!) to screengrabs at engadget dt com.

Given the scrutiny which Barack Obama underwent, you'd expect Fringe's Olivia Dunham -- who's responsible for matters far more serious than "fixing economies" and "creating domestic stimulus packages" -- to use some sort of highly specialized Sectera Edge for work. But given that AT&T sponsors her program, we suppose the FBI has made an exception here. As you can see, she (and her partners) were recently caught wielding Samsung's BlackJack II (and getting perfect reception on AT&T) while investigating the spontaneous morphing of humans. Turns out, this nifty little live video trick helped lead to some resolution in her life, but we'll spare you the spoilers.

Recession? What recession?

This 24-karat gold iPhone 3G has made its way onto the auction site eBay in hopes that it’ll draw a high bid. While I don’t doubt it will, whoever ends up winning must not be affected by the current economic crisis. You can buy it now for a mere $1016.72, which is pennies for people like Bill Gates and Bernie Madoff. There’s even a gold Apple logo on the back of the device for good measure.

Toshiba TG01 with 4.1-inch WVGA touchscreen: a world’s first Snapdragon

February 3, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Finally, an honest to goodness Qualcomm Snapdragon device is about to land in the form of the Toshiba TG01. The 9.9-mm thin handset will feature a 4.1-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) touchscreen display, HSDPA data, GPS, WiFi, a microSD slot, and custom Tosh 3D GUI to hide the Windows Mobile 6.1 uglies within. Most notable is that 1GHz Snapdragon chip that Toshiba claims makes the TG01 considerably faster than any device currently on the market with the promise to "revolutionize the mobile entertainment world." Perhaps that's where the DivX support comes in? We'll see when the TG01 is unveiled at Mobile World Congress in less than two weeks followed by an expected summery launch. One more picture after the break.

Update: Oh man, the hands-on photo galleries from the London launch are coming up over at Pocket-Lint and Electricpig, the latter with head-to-head pics of the TG01 against the 12.3-mm iPhone 3G chubster and BlackBerry Bold. She's definitely a slim-lined beauty but we have our doubts about that stripey UI. Hey Tosh, where's the Android OS we saw running on Snapdragon at CES?
