Now that you've customized your iGoogle page exactly the way you like it, why not do the same with your Gmail inbox as well? Thanks to
Gmail Labs, there are numerous ways to enhance your Gmail experience. When you are signed into Gmail, click on the tiny green science lab flask to the left of the settings tab. Here you will find all of great Gmail Labs. Last week I talked about Google's latest lab, offline Gmail that allows you to switch to offline mode and use Gmail features as if you were online. Have a look at my slideshow to see ten more of my favorite Labs!

There's only one thing that GoogleTube does, but it does it very well: this Firefox extension adds a YouTube icon to your Google results so you can watch videos in the same window. No more opening multiple tabs, using the back button or getting lost within the many channels of YouTube.

Just click on the YouTube icon that shows up next to video results and a small, floating window pops out so you can watch it right there on the page. Sweet and simple.

OK, you got me, it's all of Google's themed services that really make me drool. Well if you haven't found that perfect theme to personalize your iGoogle page with as of yet, Google has just announced that you can create your own theme.

With Google's new tool for designing your own theme, you can add and tweak images, include all of your favorite colors and preview your theme before it goes live on your site. And if you really love it (and think others would too), you can choose to publish it for the public to use as well!

Yep, there's a Macworld keynote going on this morning -- as usual, the Apple Store just went down. That's not all Apple's web monkeys have been up to this morning, though: the company's Downloads page now lists "iWork '09," which doesn't quite exist yet. We'll see what Philly Schills has to say about that -- we're also hearing there might be some iPhone tethering news coming. Keep it locked right here! iWork screencap after the break.

[Thanks, Jakob]
Continue reading Apple Store page goes down, iWork '09 mention goes up

Filed under: Misc. Not that we've never seen this phenomenon before, but Phoenix Technologies' HyperSpace embedded OS was forgotten just about as quickly as it was introduced. Here at CES -- over a year since we first heard of the software -- it's being relaunched in very much official glory. Starting today, HyperSpace for Consumers can be downloaded directly onto any laptop in two flavors: Hybrid ($59.95 annually or $149.95 for three years) or Dual ($39.95 annually or $99.95 for three years). The former taps into the virtual technology in many Intel and AMD CPUs in order to let users toggle between systems; the latter forces you to stay in one or the other. Also of note, HyperSpace for Netbooks will begin shipping on pre-fab machines in just a few months, with Acer already signed on as a partner. The full release is after the break, and check out Laptop's hands-on at the read link.
Continue reading Phoenix Technologies relaunches HyperSpace instant-on OS: now tastier, widely available

Phoenix Technologies relaunches HyperSpace instant-on OS: now tastier, widely available originally appeared on Engadget on Tue, 06 Jan 2009 06:00:00 EST.
